Western Europe refers to the western half of Europe， covering an area of about 5 million square kilometers， accounting for about half of Europe. 

Traditionally， this area can be divided into Western Europe， Central Europe， northern Europe， southern Europe four parts. 

This area is located in the west of Eurasia and the east coast of the Atlantic Ocean. 

Most of it is located in the North temperate zone of 35°~60° North latitude.
